According to a release from Vancouver Coastal Health an outbreak of COVID-19 has taken place in the NICU at St. Paul's Hospital. The NICU is designed for newborns at the hospital. 

Outbreak restricitions were put in place on Thursday. 

The spokesperson Providence Health Care, which operates the hospital, said the NICU is now closed, but the hospital's maternity unit remains operational and a satellite NICU has been opened and that is where the babies have been moved to. 

According to the spokesperson at Providence Health Care any babies born during the outbreak who need intensive care will receive it. 

The NICU is now being thoroughly sanitized to prevent further spread.
