Public health officials say new COVID-19 infections are creeping back up just as the respiratory virus season in the fall and winter is set to get underway.
Ottawa is sending a new COVID vaccine out to the provinces and territories, which are in charge of rolling it out to the public.
But it's clear that many Canadians are tired of getting these vaccines -- with the Public Health Agency of Canada reporting that only 22 per cent of people five years and older got the bivalent booster dose.
The booster offers protections against the Omicron variant as well as the original coronavirus strain.
Investigators say a 56-year-old from Sechelt died from multiple gunshot wounds early Thursday morning. The victim was found outside a residence in Halfmoon Bay and died at the scene.

Surrey R-C-M-P say the crash happened early Sunday, when a Volkswagen collided with a Hyundai sedan while both were northbound on 176 Street near 32 Avenue. Police say the crash sent both cars into a water-filled ditch beside the road, and two people in the Hyundai have died while two others from the same vehicle are injured, one critically.
The incident is believed to have occurred inside a parked vehicle near Halifax Street and Woodway Place in Burnaby around 2 p.m. No victims, suspects, or related vehicles were on scene when police arrived. However, the victim, a 20-year-old-man, was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds after seeking medical care.
