  • Coquitlam man facing drug charges in nation wide operation

A Coquitlam man is facing is facing a long list of charges, including trafficking and possession after police say they uncovered a large-scale, cross-Canada drug operation.

B-C's Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit says police conducted a yearlong investigation that included police in Manitoba, resulting in three arrests and a large quantity of drugs and weapons seized.

Items seized include various amounts of fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine and L-S-D, as well as 26 firearms and about 250-thousand-dollars in cash.

Department Superintendent Kevin O’Donnell says their investigation led to the disruption of what's believed to be a cross-Canada drug trafficking operation.

A new report from Deloitte Canada suggests the economy's near-term struggles will ease next year as the Bank of Canada begins cutting its key lending rate. The report estimates GDP will rise one per cent this year and 0.9 per cent next year.
