Convicted B.C. Pedophile Gets 55 Days Shaved Off His Prison Sentence By Court

Darpan News Desk Darpan, 16 Oct, 2014 05:00 PM
VANCOUVER - A convicted B.C. pedophile who sexually assaulted his partner's two-year-old daughter and recorded the crimes on video will serve 55 fewer days in prison.

The man who is identified in court documents only as K.D.C. pleaded guilty to the offences and was sentenced to 12 years in prison, which was reduced to 11 years because of time served.

But he appealed, arguing before the province's highest court that the sentencing judge didn't consider rehabilitation or mitigating factors like his own abuse and failed to give sufficient weight to the pre-sentencing time he served in custody.

B.C. Court of Appeal Justice David Tysoe has dismissed two of the man's three argument, but allowed his appeal on the length of sentence.

Tysoe cut the prison term by 55 days because of a recent Supreme Court of Canada ruling on the credit a prisoner is given for time served in custody before sentencing.

A psychological report written about the man called him a pedophile who had no remorse, shame, regret or guilt, and who didn't believe it was harmful to have sex with children.

Should Canada Allow Contraceptives For Dogs And Cats? Yes, Says One Vet
One day, sterilizing your pet could be as simple as taking them to the vet for their annual shots. For Dr. Judith Samson-French — who jokingly calls herself "the queen of contraception" — a less-invasive alternative to putting Felix or Fido under the knife should be an option that any veterinarian in Canada could offer.
