Controversial Comedian Dieudonne Set To Land In Montreal On Tuesday

The Canadian Press, 09 May, 2016 11:33 AM
MONTREAL — Controversial French comedian Dieudonne is scheduled to arrive in Montreal on Tuesday and perform several sold-out shows during the week.

Dieudonne M'bala M'bala has been convicted several times in Europe for anti-Semitism and hate speech.

Gino Ste-Marie, the Quebec City-based promoter for Dieudonne's tour, says the performer has changed his tune and is in Quebec to offer a message of peace.

Jewish groups as well as Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre have stated publicly he is not welcome in the city.

It is unclear if Canadian border will let Dieudonne into the country considering his past convictions.

An African-themed art gallery in Montreal where Dieudonne is scheduled to perform has been vandalized twice over the past two weeks.

Gallery owner Mushagalusa Chigoho says extra security measures will be taken to ensure safety during the shows and that the events will go on as planned.
