The federal government has awarded two contracts totalling more than 103-million dollars for maintenance work on he Alaska Highway in northern B-C.
Public Services and Procurement Canada says the contracts cover work on two sections of the highway, from kilometres 133 to 968.
The department says the contracts have requirements for Indigenous participation, with a minimum of 24-million dollars in subtracting going to First Nations on the south section of the route and 33-million-dollars on the north section.
The contracts also require employment and training opportunities for the seven First Nations along the highway.
