Consul General Of India Abhilasha Joshi Presented A Set Of Books To Vancouver Public Library

    As part of an yearlong celebration of 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji, Consul General of India in Vancouver, Mrs. Abhilasha Joshi presented to the Vancouver Public Library a gift of books on Sikhism and Sikh Heritage on January 31, 2020.


    The books were presented by Consul General Joshi to Ms. Jennifer Chan, VPL Board Chair at the Central branch in downtown Vancouver at 350 West Georgia.


    Also present on the occasion were Ms. Kay Cahill, Director, Collections & Technology at VPL and Ms. Inness Campbell, Manager, Collections & Technical Services at VPL.


    From the Consulate Manjish Grover, Consul (Commerce & Culture), Rajinder Kumar, Vice Consul (Commerce & Culture), Nikunj Nayak, Marketing Assistant and Gibson Mathew Jacob, Cultural Assistant were present at the occasion.


    After presenting the gift of books, Consul General in her address to the gathering highlighted the core message of oneness and harmony given by Guru Nanak Dev ji to mankind.


    She also mentioned that the Golden Temple is one of the most visited religious places in India. Consul General also made a special mention of the invaluable contributions of the Indian Diaspora in Canada. She expressed the hope that these books will prove to be a valuable addition to the Vancouver Public Library and will be used by scholars and regular readers alike.
