Community engagement launched to address racism faced by South Asian communities

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 10 Oct, 2024 04:25 PM
  • Community engagement launched to address racism faced by South Asian communities

The City of Vancouver has launched a community engagement process to hear from members of South Asian communities about historical discrimination and ongoing racism.

Community members are invited to complete an online survey, attend sessions and share their perspectives on the city's website.

The engagement process also includes an opportunity to identify current and historical spaces that are important to the South Asian community.

A statement from the city says lessons from the engagement will be presented to council next year, along with recommendations the city could take to support redress with South Asian communities.
