New Westminster Police are in the early stages of investigating a fatal single vehicle collision that occurred at approximately 6:40 am Wednesday on East 8th Avenue between Richmond Street and E Columbia Street. Traffic has been rerouted and drivers are asked to avoid the area.
The collision has caused a local power outage and city crews have been on scene. If motorists encounter an intersection with no power, they are asked to treat the intersection as a four way stop.
Power is expected to be restored to the majority of affected customers in approx. 3 hours. A small number of customers on E. 8th Ave and Blair St will remain without power until a damaged pole is replaced by BC Hydro. #NewWest https://t.co/KUprsGy8MS
