ABBOTSFORD, B.C. — The 28-year-old son of the Abbotsford South member of the B.C. legislature has died.
 
The B.C. Liberal Caucus confirms the son of Darryl Plecas was found dead Tuesday and the family is asking for privacy as they grieve.
 
Abbotsford Police say they were called to what is described as a non-suspicious death in the Fraser Valley city late Tuesday morning where the body of Ryan Plecas was found.
 
The younger Plecas appeared in court earlier this year to face dangerous driving charges and was also the victim of a home invasion in 2013.
 
In both cases, a special prosecutor was appointed to ensure no real or perceived influence in the legal process due to Darryl Plecas's senior position within the B.C. Liberal government.
 
In a tweet, Premier Christy Clark offered her condolences, saying she is thinking about the Plecas family and is sorry for their loss.
