VANCOUVER — A 35-year-old Burnaby, B.C., man has drowned while vacationing with his wife and baby girl in Australia.

An online crowdfunding page has been started for the family of Chris Tylor, who was caught in a rip tide on Saturday and unable to be resuscitated.

The GoFundMe page describes Tylor as a true original who spent an entire year reading hundreds of books, practised martial arts and was an avid debater of mainstream thought.

It says he worked for BC Hydro and ran as a candidate for the Libertarian Party of Canada in the riding of Burnaby North-Seymour during the October federal election.

Tylor is also described as kind, honest, a vegan with respect for the rights of animals and a fan of D-C Comics.

He was born in Montreal, married his wife Winnie Trieu in Hawaii four years ago and the couple had baby Arianna last April.
