Police say a child is in hospital after suffering life-threatening injuries at a hotel pool in Victoria on Wednesday.

Victoria police say in a news release that officers were called to the hotel, which they didn't identify, at about 6 p.m. for a report of an injured child.

Officers and paramedics responded to the call and the child was taken to hospital after first aid was providing.

Police say they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the child's injuries, but they don't believe a criminal act was involved.
