  • Child dead after head-on crash in B.C., RCMP say

LOGAN LAKE, B.C. - The RCMP say a child is dead after a head-on collision in the southern B.C. Interior.

The Mounties say in a statement they responded to a crash on Highway 97C south of Logan Lake around 12:15 p.m. Thursday.

They say the crash was between a large utility vehicle and a passenger vehicle carrying the child, whose age was not released.

The extent of the injuries of others travelling in either vehicle was not known.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, though Mounties say there is no evidence of a crime.

The RCMP say highway patrol in Merritt is investigating with assistance from the collision analysis and reconstruction service, the coroners service and the commercial vehicle safety enforcement branch.
