The Canadian Press, 07 Oct, 2015 01:36 PM
NANAIMO, B.C. — Police say a 31-year-old man has been hospitalized with severe burns after an explosion at an apartment building in Nanaimo, B.C.

RCMP say they joined firefighters at the scene at about 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, and that a 19-year-old woman with minor burns was treated in hospital and released.

A child was unharmed in the blast, which police say involved drug activity.

Cpl. Jon Stuart says such incidents put other people in a building and bypassers at risk, including first responders.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
