Charges Laid In Vancouver After Suspect Allegedly Tries To Throw Woman Off Pier

    VANCOUVER — Charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and assault have been laid against a 20-year-old woman after a series of violent events in downtown Vancouver.
     
    Police say they were called to the Coal Harbour waterfront, near Canada Place, at about 10 p.m. Monday after reports a young woman was trying to throw a 31-year-old woman off the pier and into the water below.
     
    Several other pedestrians were also attacked before officers arrived and arrested the suspect in a nearby park.
     
    Investigators say the woman was taken to hospital for assessment but was removed to the jail after kicking an 88-year-old woman in the head as the elderly victim lay on a nearby stretcher.
     
    The suspect was then returned to hospital after injuring herself while at the jail.  
     
    Vancouver Police say Ana Jankovic will remain in custody until her next court date on March 8, and they urge any other potential victims or witnesses to come forward to help with the investigation.
