Chaotic Truck Hijacking Leads To House Damage And Dog Bite For Suspect In Nanaimo, B.C.

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 14 Sep, 2016 10:45 AM
NANAIMO, B.C. — Police say they've arrested a man who donned a mask before confronting a driver and hijacking his truck from a home in Nanaimo, B.C.

RCMP say the 35-year-old suspect drove into a driveway and produced a firearm before jumping into a vehicle.

Police say the two men struggled, the suspect's mask came off and that he lost hold of the gun while the vehicle, which was in gear, was driven into the house.

RCMP say the pair then exited the truck and continued the scuffle but the suspect got back into the vehicle and left.

The homeowner called RCMP, and officers spotted his vehicle before arresting him when he pulled into a parking lot behind a store, where he sustained a dog bite to his left shoulder.

The man who is known to police was assessed and taken into custody and the weapon turned out to be an imitation firearm.
