Chandigarh's 'Capitol Complex' To Host Yoga Day

The Canadian Press, 11 May, 2016 11:47 AM
Chandigarh's 'Capitol Complex' has been finalised as the main venue of the second 'International Yoga Day' to be held on June 21. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the event.

"The government has finalized Capitol Complex as the main venue for the event," a spokesman for the Chandigarh Administration said on Wednesday.

This will be Modi's second visit to the 'Capitol Complex', which was designed by Chandigarh's founder-architect Le Corbusier, within six months.

Modi hosted French President Francis Hollande at the venue on January 24 this year.

Other probable venues discussed for the mega event in the city included the Sukhna Lake and other parks and green belts.

Modi will join hundreds of people in Chandigarh on the occasion of the 'International Yoga Day' on June 21.

The UN had listed June 21 as the 'International Yoga Day'.
