Canadians United In Wanting Growth While Protecting Environment: Justin Trudeau

The Canadian Press, 01 Mar, 2016 12:25 PM
VANCOUVER — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says there's no regional divide when it comes to what Canadians want for the economy and the environment.

Speaking in Vancouver before climate changes talks later this week, Trudeau said everyone is united in wanting growth and jobs, while protecting the environment at the same time.

He said the point of discussions with premiers is how best to achieve that.

He acknowledged finding middle ground when leaders have differing views is challenging.

But he added that multiple perspectives ultimately lead to better solutions.

Trudeau has said he favours carbon pricing, but Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall has already come out against a national carbon tax.
