Canadians In Barbados Plead Guilty To Drug Charges, Pay Fines To Return Home

The Canadian Press, 07 Apr, 2016 12:21 PM
TORONTO — Three women who pleaded guilty to multiple drug charges in Barbados last week have returned home after paying tens of thousands in dollars in fines.

A fourth woman who also pleaded guilty to similar charges is expected to return to Canada on Friday.

A spokesman with the country's District B Magistrates court says Charlette Blackman, 35, Natalie Linton, 24, Paige Amber Clark, 20 and a 17-year-old girl flew into Barbados from Toronto on March 29.

The spokesman, who's not authorized to give his name, says all four women were arrested at the airport after customs officials found a significant amount of marijuana in their luggage.

He says the women agreed to pay the fines issued after their guilty pleas in exchange for being allowed to leave the country.

The last woman remaining in Barbados — Paige Amber Clark — is expected to pay the fine later on Thursday and return to Canada the next day.
