Canadians Are United: Justin Trudeau Leads Canada Day Celebrations In Ottawa

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 01 Jul, 2016 11:45 AM
OTTAWA — Canadian flags are on prominent display as people celebrate Canada Day from coast to coast.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Gov. Gen. David Johnston are among the thousands who crowded Parliament Hill today for one of the biggest celebrations, which features performances from a number of musical acts.

Trudeau's Canada Day message stressed the importance of values such as kindness, generosity and respect.

He told the crowd in Ottawa that while Canadians celebrate differences that make them unique, they also know they are united.

The celebrations will be capped off tonight with a massive fireworks display, and there will be similar fireworks extravaganzas in many communities, including Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg, Regina, Edmonton and Vancouver.

In downtown Toronto, many people were holding Canadian flags and some people had the flag painted on their faces.
