Canadian Writers Celebrate Bob Dylan's Nobel Prize For Literature

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 13 Oct, 2016 12:32 PM
  • Canadian Writers Celebrate Bob Dylan's Nobel Prize For Literature
Bob Dylan's selection as the Nobel Prize winner for literature sparked controversy on social media today, but the polarizing pick is earning praise among some Canadian writers.

Montreal-based author Kathleen Winter says the legendary American singer-songwriter is "one of the greatest poets of all time."

She says those upset over the fact that a musician is being honoured for literature are "small-minded."

Bestselling fantasy author and Order of Canada member Guy Gavriel Kay tweeted that he was "almost irrationally pleased" to see Dylan win the esteemed prize.

Dylan is the first ever musician to be honoured with the Nobel Prize for literature.

Acclaimed Canadian author Marina Endicott appeared less than thrilled by the choice, however, tweeting "Bob Dylan?"
