Canadian National Downhill Mountain Bike Championships To Feature Redesigned Course At Sun Peaks

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 07 Jul, 2016 11:57 AM
SUN PEAKS, B.C. — The Canadian National Downhill Mountain Bike Championships, set for July 23-24, will feature a completely redesigned course at Sun Peaks Resort.

The new layout, 100 per cent singletrack, is more technically demanding than in the past, according to the resort, which is hosting the event for the third year in a row.

"It's quite steep," said organizer Henry Pejril. "There's gonna be a lot of riding skills involved."

Spectator-friendly viewing areas will be available along the 2.6-kilometre course.

About 50 elite riders from across the country are expected to compete, Pejril said.

The race will also include "citizen classes," so anyone can enter and ride the same course as the pros.

Sun Peaks is located 45 minutes north of Kamloops, B.C.
