Canadian Buildings To Be Illuminated For Stand Up To Cancer Benefit

IANS, 01 Sep, 2016 11:31 AM
TORONTO — More than 90 historic buildings and landmarks across Canada and the United States will be illuminated next week in the colours of a cancer fundraiser.

Stand Up To Cancer will be airing in both countries on Sept. 9 and the buildings and landmarks such as Niagara Falls and various city halls across the country will be lit in a combination of the fundraiser's signature colours — red, orange, yellow or white.

St. John's city hall, the CN Tower in Toronto, the Calgary Tower, BC Place Stadium and the Peace Bridge connecting Fort Erie, Ont., and Buffalo, N.Y., are among the Canadian sites that are to be illuminated.

In the U.S., the sites are to include the Helmsley Building in New York, the Wrigley Building in Chicago, the US Bank Tower crown in Los Angeles, and the Benjamin Franklin Bridge in Philadelphia.

Stand Up To Cancer will simultaneously broadcast across all four major English-language Canadian broadcasters — CBC, City, CTV, and Global — and stream live on Yahoo Canada.

Celine Dion will perform during the benefit show that will also feature performances by Keith Urban and Little Big Town and appearances by celebrities including Ben Affleck, Matthew McConaughey, Emma Stone and Anna Kendrick.
