  • Canada is extending its ban on direct flights to India until at least August 21

Canada has extended the ban on incoming passenger flights from India for another month til August 21, 2021. The federal government is not renewing the travel ban for Pakistan.

Transport Minister Omar Alghabra made the announcement via a Twitter post.

Those travellers who leave from India to travel to Canada throught an non direct route, are still required to get a valid COVID-19 test result from a third country before getting on a plane to Canada.

The ban was to expire Wednesday. The decision comes with concerns regarding the delta variant which first originated in India, along with a spike in COVID19 cases.

The first travel ban was announced on April 22.
