Calgary Police Arrest One In Hate-crime Investigation Over Anti-Muslim Graffiti

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 10 Dec, 2015 11:22 AM
Calgary police have arrested a man in a hate-crime investigation surrounding anti-refugee graffiti that was spray-painted at a public transit station.

Investigators had released surveillance photos of two men in hopes of identifying the culprits.

The pair wrote anti-Syrian and anti-refugee sentiments on a train, station walls, a walkway ramp and on five vehicles in a parking lot.

Police say they believe they know the identity of a second suspect but no arrest has been made and no charges have yet been laid.

Calgary is expecting 1,300 Syrian refugees to arrive in the coming weeks.
