Matthew de Grood, accused is Calgary mass stabbing has been ordered by a judge to undergo a 30-day psychiatric assessment to determine whether he is mentally fit to stand a trial.
The 22-year-old was charged after five young individuals were stabbed to death at a Calgary house party earlier this month.
Investigators had earlier stated that Matthew knew at least one person at the party and was an invited guest. Investigators are currently examining Matthew's text messages sent before and after the fatal incident.
De Grood is the son of a senior Calgary police officer and will be returning back to court on May 22.
