Calgary city council has appointed an integrity commissioner as well as an ethics adviser.
Mayor Naheed Nenshi says the positions will help improve openness, transparency and accountability at city hall.
The ethics job is going to Prof. Alice Woolley, an associate dean at the University of Calgary faculty of law.
Allen Sulatycky, a one-time Alberta MP and former Court of Queen's Bench justice, will serve as integrity commissioner.
He will be responsible for investigating potential ethics matters related to city council.
The ethics adviser is to provide advice and educate council and the public on the expectations for elected municipal officials.
