Picket lines went up this morning at Simon Fraser University's Burnaby Mountain campus as teaching support staff seek a new contract.

A statement on the S-F-U website says pickets were at several locations and it advised students with classes or labs in any of the affected buildings to check with their instructors or teaching assistants about possible disruptions.

Members of the Teaching Support Staff Union have been seeking a contract for more than two years and voted 94 per cent in favour of job action at the end of March.

Key issues include a first contract for research assistants, and improvements to wages and benefits for all teaching support staff.
