Darpan News Desk , 10 Nov, 2016 11:37 AM
The Burnaby RCMP would like to speak to any witnesses of a fatal pedestrian incident that occurred just east of Duthie Ave on Burnaby Mountain Parkway in Burnaby at 6:00 pm on Monday November 7, 2016.

An 18-year-old woman was crossing the street when she was struck by a white 2015 Hyundai Genesis. Burnaby RCMP Traffic Services have spoken with the driver who remained at the scene, however, we would like to speak with any witnesses to this incident.

If you witnessed this incident, please contact Cst. Ekelund of the Burnaby RCMP Traffic Services at 604-294-7922.

Pedestrian crashes spike dramatically in the fall and winter months because of the shorter daylight hours and poor weather.

Burnaby RCMP urges pedestrians and drivers to remain vigilant in low light and adverse weather conditions. Pedestrians should wear reflective clothing, use crosswalks and intersections and make eye contact with drivers when crossing the street. Drivers, please be on the lookout for pedestrians especially after sunset.
