Burnaby RCMP ask for public assistance in identifying a suspect that may have been involved in3 unprovoked assaults

On Monday, August 30, at approximately 1:40 p.m., an unknown man approached a 25-year-old woman and wrestled her to the ground in the area of Edmonds Street and Canada Way. It’s believed the victim may have been followed for a short distance.

The victim, who did not sustain any serious injuries, does not know the suspect.

The suspect is described as: 

  • Tanned skin 
  • 5’8
  • 16-22 years old
  • Black wavy hair

Wearing:

  • Black hoodie
  • Light coloured jeans 
  • Black running shoes

In the early hours of Wednesday morning (September 1) in the Edmonds area, a similar report was received in Burnaby. The victim was not injured.

On Saturday evening, August 28, New Westminster Police also received a similar report which occurred near Elliot Street and Clarkson Street.

In each incident, the victim was female.

Burnaby RCMP Serious Crime unit is actively investigating these incidents and working diligently to identify and locate the person responsible for these assaults, says Corporal Mike Kalanj of the Burnaby RCMP. We’re asking anyone with information to contact our investigators.
