Darpan News Desk Burnaby RCMP, 26 Feb, 2021 11:12 PM
  • Burnaby RCMP arrest woman for the assault of a senior

The Burnaby RCMP have arrested a woman for the assault of an 84-year-old senior that took place last April. On April 3rd, 2020, on Central Boulevard near Metrotown Skytrain Station, a woman approached an 84-year-old woman using a walker, tripped the elderly women and knocked her to the ground.

The elderly woman did sustain injury. Police believe the attack to have been unprovoked and both the suspect and the victim were unknown to one another.

In May 2020, the Burnaby RCMP released a video showing the woman assault the senior and asked for the public’s assistance in identifying her.

After a lengthy investigation, we are pleased to announce that we have identified a suspect and made an arrest, said Corporal Brett Cunningham of the Burnaby RCMP. Our High Risk Offender Unit has reviewed all the evidence, received tips from the public and completed an extensive investigation. The Burnaby RCMP would like to thank the public for all their assistance.

Hayun Song, a 32-year-old Vancouver woman, has been arrested and charged for Assault Causing Bodily Harm.
