Burnaby RCMP Arrest Three Males With Illegal Firearm Outside Cameron Elementary School

Darpan News Desk, 19 Jun, 2019 05:50 PM

On Tuesday June 18, 2019 at about 7:09 p.m. a concerned citizen reported that at least two persons were parked in a vehicle at Cameron Elementary School and were possibly passing a firearm back and forth between them.

The Burnaby RCMP, Metro Vancouver Transit Police and the Integrated Police Dog Services attended and were able to take three young adult males into custody without incident after covertly clearing the school grounds of members of the public. None of the persons taken into custody were previously known to police.

A loaded handgun that appears to be illegal to possess in Canada was seized. The police investigation is continuing however so far it has not revealed how the firearm came to be in their possession or what they intended to do with it. The school was closed for the evening and at no time was any member of the public placed in jeopardy.

Anyone who has information, dashcam or other video regarding this incident and has not already spoken to police are encouraged to contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999, or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca, quoting file number 2019-25559.
