Burnaby RCMP is investigating a fatal collision that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
On Wednesday morning, just before 6:30 a.m., Burnaby RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision involving a hatchback and a motorcycle at the intersection of Laurel Street and Douglas Road.
The motorcycle was travelling southbound on Douglas Road at the time of the crash, which is believed to have occurred at approximately 6:10 a.m. The hatchback was travelling eastbound on Laurel Street. The driver of the hatchback remained on scene. A 33-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead on scene.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor at this time.
“The collision is still under investigation,” said Corporal Laura Hirst with the Burnaby RCMP. “If you have dash cam footage in the area of Laurel Street and Douglas Road between 5:50 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., our investigators would like to speak with you.”
