Burnaby RCMP are seeking witnesses and dash cam footage after fatal single-vehicle collision on North Road

Burnaby RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team is investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision that involved the death of a 75-year-old female passenger.

On Tuesday, September 6, at 6:30 a.m., Coquitlam RCMP frontline officers were first to respond to a report of a single vehicle collision in the 200-block of North Road, near the Coquitlam-Burnaby border. The vehicle involved left the roadway and flipped. It does not appear any other vehicles were involved.

It appears the black Honda Civic had been travelling southbound on North Road at the time of the crash.

The 36-year-old male driver was transported to hospital with minor injuries. The 75-year-old woman who was a passenger in the vehicle was pronounced dead on scene.

Burnaby RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) has since taken conduct of the investigation.

“If you witnessed this incident or saw the black Honda Civic involved in this incident before the crash, our investigators would like to speak to you,” said Corporal Mike Kalanj with the Burnaby RCMP. “If you have dash cam video on North Road between Holmes Street and Como Lake Avenue between 6:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., please contact the Burnaby RCMP.”

Anyone who witnessed this collision or may have dash cam video is asked to contact Burnaby RCMP.
