  • Burnaby man sentenced for multiple crimes

A 28-year-old man who went on a multi-day crime spree in Burnaby and Vancouver last year has been sentenced to three years and two months in prison.

That's on top of time already served.

Hayden McCorriston pleaded guilty in December to numerous charges, including sexual assault, assault by choking, and robbery. 

Those offences were just some of the more than a dozen Mounties say McCorriston committed between March 31st and April 3rd of 2022.

Police say a regimental funeral has been scheduled for two Edmonton officers who were shot and killed in the line of duty last week. Police said they responded to a weapons complaint at around 9:20 a.m., and a suspect was taken into custody about 10 minutes later at Charles P. Allen High School in the suburb of Bedford. A teacher at the school said it appears a male student was in the school's front office with a vice-principal when the student suddenly became violent.
