Boy, 4, Dead After Being Hit By Car Driven By Off-Duty B.C. Mountie

    PENTICTON, B.C. — A four-year-old boy in Penticton, B.C., has died after being struck by a car driven by an off-duty police officer.
     
    The RCMP says in a statement that a member of the force was travelling in his personal vehicle at about 5 p.m. Tuesday when he was involved in a collision with a pedestrian (at Fairview Rd. and Highway 97).
     
    The boy later died of his injuries in hospital.
     
    The Independent Investigation Office says the child was crossing the road with his family when he was struck.
     
    The IIO says its investigators will head to the scene to collect evidence and interview any available witnesses.
     
    No names have been released.
