Book About Guru Nanak Dev's Philosophy, Mission And Message Released At Akali Singh Sikh Society Gurdwara

    It is a matter of great pride for the entire Sikh community and well-wishers of Guru Nanak Dev ji to celebrate his 550th Parkash Purb (Birth Anniversary) this year. The celebrations have been going on for almost the entire 2019.


    Nearly every Gurdwara around the globe has been celebrating this special milestone with dedication. Here in the Metro Vancouver area, every Gurdwara has done an excellent job in paying tribute to the founder of Sikhism.


    Like each one of these Gurdwaras, Akali Singh Sikh Society Gurdwara, 1890 Skeena Street, held a very impressive seminar recently.


    On Sunday, November 17, the management committee of this Society released a book dedicated to Guru Nanak Dev ji.


    The book is titled: 550 Years, Guru Nanak Sahib: Jagat Guru: Founder of New World Order


    This very impressive work is compilation of excellent articles by various Sikh scholars dealing with the philosophy, mission and message of Guru Ji. This commemorative volume has been edited by Dr. Gurnam Singh Sanghera. He has done an excellent job in ensuring very high quality of the articles in it.


    The authors are renowned in their own fields. It was a very ambitious project. The Akali Singh Sikh Society and Dr. Sanghera , along with contributing writers for the book must be commended for producing this unique book.


    It is a very deserving tribute to Guru ji. Prior to releasing the book, Dr. Sanghera and Gurdwara Secretary Piara Singh shared their thoughts about Guru Nanak’s philosophy, mission and universal message of brotherhood and equality with the congregation.

     

    The book will be distributed free of charge to the congregation and those interested in reading it. The Diwan Hall was overflowing with devotees on this occasion. As part of this celebration, the Gurdwara management honoured a number of contributors to the book and some other deserving individuals.


    A number of prominent members of the community also took the time to join the congregation on this special occasion. On behalf of India Cultural Centre of Canada Gurdwara Nanak Niwas, #5 Road, Richmond, President Balbir Singh Jawanda and Secretary Balwant Singh Sanghera offered their congratulations and best wishes to the Akali Singh Sikh Society for this commendable initiative.
