  • B.C.'s Health Minister Terry Lake Won't Seek Re-election In May 2017
KAMLOOPS, B.C. — British Columbia's health minister says he won't be running in the next provincial election.

Terry Lake will be leaving at the end of his second term.

The member of the legislature for the Kamloops-North Thompson riding says the decision to not seek re-election in May was not easy but the change will be good for him and his family.

Lake was appointed health minister in June 2013 after serving as environment minister for two years.

The veterinarian and former mayor of Kamloops has been on leave since 2009 from Thompson Rivers University, where he teaches animal health.

Lake declined to say what he may do after leaving politics.
