B.C.: Three Children Accused Of Starting Fire At Salmon Arm Elementary School

The Canadian Press , 18 Aug, 2014 11:51 AM
SALMON ARM, B.C. - Firefighters in Salmon Arm, B.C., made quick work of an early morning arson fire in a school in that Shuswap-area city, but officials are still stunned by the trio alleged to have started the blaze.

RCMP say three youngsters, aged six, eight and 10, were picked up a short time after flames were reported at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

Mounties aren't saying what, if any, action might be taken against the children because they are all too young to face formal charges.

An alarm alerted crews to the fire in a classroom at South Broadview Elementary.

A window had been smashed and burning material had been tossed inside.

Damage was limited to the single classroom. (CKIZ, CFJC)
