B.C. Road Serves As Emergency Runway For Pilot Experiencing Trouble

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 31 Mar, 2016 12:55 PM
CLINTON, B.C. — The pilot of a single-engine plane was forced to make an emergency landing on a road in British Columbia's Interior on Wednesday.

Bill Yearwood of the Transportation Safety Board says the pilot was alone, flying a Cessna 172 from the Boundary Bay Airport to Vanderhoof in central B.C., when the plane began to experience problems.

He says the pilot landed the plane a road just north of Clinton, B.C., 125 kilometres northwest of Kamloops.

The plane was damaged, although Yearwood says the pilot didn't appear to be injured and was taken to hospital for observation.

Yearwood says TSB officials will not attend the scene but plan to interview the pilot.
