Remembrance Day services will be staged across British Columbia tomorrow, but wild weather hitting the south coast may test the resolve of attendees.

A weather front bringing heavy rain and winds of up to 90 kilometres an hour is forecast to cross the coast this evening, and although the winds could ease in time for services tomorrow morning, soaking rain is expected across the Lower Mainland, including Vancouver.

Dozens of Remembrance Day ceremonies are planned for Metro Vancouver, including the downtown Victory Square service at the Cenotaph at 10:30 a.m., which the City of Vancouver says attracts more than 15,000 people each year and will be held "rain or shine."

New Westminster hosts one of the province's oldest and best-attended ceremonies, culminating at the City Hall Cenotaph where ceremonies begin at 10:30 a.m.

Other services across B.C. will include the province’s official Remembrance Day ceremony at 10:30 a.m. at the Victoria Cenotaph at the B.C. Legislature, which will be preceded by a parade to the site.

In the Okanagan, a parade will march through downtown Kelowna from 10.45 a.m., before the official ceremony at the cenotaph at City Park.

Surrey shooting victim identified as Pavanbar Paul Mannan
IHIT investigators are identifying the victim as 29-year old, Pavanbar Paul Mannan, of Surrey, in hopes of furthering their investigation. Surrey RCMP say in a statement Mannan was found in a white Ford Edge in the alleyway north of 96 Avenue and 130 Street around 5 p.m. on Sunday, and was later declared dead at a hospital.

White Rock RCMP beach patrol officers were on foot nearby and gave chase along the promenade. After a short foot pursuit three males were arrested and their knives seized. Two youth males, were released from police custody with conditions and future court dates, into the care of their parents/guardians.

R-C-M-P say an off-duty Mountie showed bravery when he saved three people's lives from a burning home on Vancouver Island. Police got a call yesterday morning about a neighbour's house being on fire in Lake Cowichan and when that resident knocked on the door, there was no response.
