B.C. RCMP say multiple victims injured in single vehicle crash

Mounties on Vancouver Island say they are investigating a single-vehicle crash that left "multiple" people injured.

Sidney North Saanich RCMP say officers were called to a shopping plaza in Sidney at about 2:30 p.m.

They say a number of people have been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Firefighters and the BC Ambulance Service also attended the scene.

RCMP spokesman Cpl. Brett Urano says in a news release the investigation is ongoing, but police have determined that alcohol is not a factor.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone who has dashcam footage to contact them.

A report from the Independent Investigations Office says a man was driving recklessly at a high rate of speed and was in the wrong lane on Highway 97D near Logan Lake when he hit another vehicle head-on. The man and the two occupants in the other car died.

Case of whooping cough confirmed on flight from Whitehorse to Vancouver

Yukon says its Communicable Disease Control and the territory's chief medical officer have confirmed a case of whooping cough on a flight from Whitehorse to Vancouver earlier this month. The territory says it is advising any passengers who took the Air North flight that left at 11:45 a.m. on Nov. 6 to monitor for symptoms, which may show up seven to 10 days after exposure.
