BC Owner Of 19 Huskies Gives Them Up Over Allegations Of Neglect

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 28 Dec, 2019 06:39 AM

KAMLOOPS, B.C. - The British Columbia SPCA has been overwhelmed with 19 huskies that were surrendered by their owner in the province's Interior.

Animal control officers and the RCMP responded to a complaint and found two adult dogs and 17 puppies, believed to be about eight to 10 weeks old.

Marcie Moriarty, the society's chief prevention and enforcement officer in B.C., says they acted on allegations of neglect and that the animals were living out in the cold.

She says the dogs were surrendered two days before Christmas, and are in quarantine being treated for worms.

Moriarty says each dog will be spayed or neutered and vaccinated before they're ready for adoption next month.

The location of the dogs isn't being disclosed for their protection, and Moriarty says the society also won't be releasing the location of the community where the animals were found. (CHNL, The Canadian Press)
