B.C. Mountie Charged With Sex Offence Involving A Minor, Breach Of Trust

    SURREY, B.C. — A B.C. RCMP officer has been charged with a sex crime involving a minor.
     
     
    The BC Prosecution Service says criminal charges were sworn against Ridge Meadows RCMP Const. Gregory Scott Bakker on Wednesday.
     
     
    Bakker has been charged with one count of touching a person under the age of 16 for a sexual purpose and one count of breach of trust.
     
     
    The prosecution service says the conduct is alleged to have occurred between July and November 2016 at or near Abbotsford, Langley, Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows and Surrey, B.C.
     
     
    The charges have not been proven in court.
     
     
    Bakker was released on bail Thursday and is scheduled to appear in Surrey provincial court Oct. 5.
