B.C. Man Gets 2.5 Years In Prison After Crash That Left Nurse With Spinal-Cord Injury

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 22 May, 2015 07:16 PM
VERNON, B.C. — A 22-year-old B.C. man has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison for a hit-and-run crash that left a licensed practical nurse a quadriplegic.

Michael Heeley has also been prohibited from driving for 10 years.

He pleaded guilty to criminal negligence causing injury last December in Vernon.

Court heard he was behind the wheel of a stolen Jeep that hit a car driven by Robin Orcherton.

She was on her way home from work at a seniors' home when she suffered a spinal cord injury.

Heeley ran off but was arrested two months later.
