B.C. Inquest Told High Levels Of Anti-Anxiety Drug Found In Dead Autistic Boy

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 30 Sep, 2015 01:13 PM
PRINCE RUPERT, B.C. — A coroner's jury examining the deaths of a Prince Rupert, B.C., mother and her disabled son is expected to hear from an autism service provider and a high-school principal on day three of the inquest.

Thirty-nine-year-old Angie Robinson killed her severely autistic 16-year-old son Robert before she killed herself on April 3, 2014.

Police have testified that worried family members asked the RCMP to check the home and when officers arrived, the mother and son were already dead.

The jury heard toxicology reports showed Robert had 100-times more than the regular dosage of the anti-anxiety drug Ativan in his system.

North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice says police and paramedics responded quickly to the scene.

She says the inquest raises more questions about the leadership of Children's Minister Stephanie Cadieux who has been in the spotlight dealing with the death of 18-year-old Alex Gervais at an Abbotsford hotel.
