B-C Ferries says passengers who must travel by ferry for medical reasons will have their 18-dollar reservation fee waived each way.
A statement from B-C Ferries says removal of the booking fee ensures residents can get to and from medical appointments not available in their own communities.
Passengers must be eligible for the provincial Travel Assistance Program -- have the correct form from their health care provider and obtain a program confirmation number from Health Insurance B-C.
B-C Ferries says the cost of waiving booking fees for medical travel will range between 250- and 350-thousand dollars annually, but the program aligns with B-C's goal of removing financial barriers to health care.
