B.C. Crash Investigators Successful In International Search For Irish Witnesses

The Canadian Press, 15 Jul, 2015 11:22 AM
VANCOUVER — RCMP in British Columbia are praising the power of social media for helping them find three Irish tourists who may have important information about a deadly crash.

Mounties issued a request for information about the married couple and a female relative from Cork, Ireland, who were vacationing in B.C., in May and were driving from Whistler to the Kamloops area.

Police believe the trio could be vital witnesses because they were the first to stop and help at a head-on crash between a vehicle and two cyclists on Duffey Lake Road, north of Vancouver.

An appeal for information about the tourists was issued on July 8 and Cpl. Ronda Rempel says that within days, a radio station in Cork aired the story and almost immediately received a call from one of them.

Rempel says officers have spoken with the three and the crash investigation remains very active.

Both cyclists and a passenger in the vehicle were killed in the May 31 collision, but the driver survived and Rempel says no charges have yet been laid.
