Avian flu at 2 farms in Abbotsford

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 20 Nov, 2024 01:46 PM
  • Avian flu at 2 farms in Abbotsford

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says it has detected the presence of highly pathogenic avian influenza at two more commercial poultry farms in Abbotsford.

The agency currently lists 43 premises in B-C where the flu has been detected in bird flocks.

The C-F-I-A says anyone with birds "must practice good biosecurity habits" to protect poultry and prevent spread of the disease.

However, it says there is no evidence to suggest that eating cooked poultry or eggs could transmit the flu to humans.
