Autopsy Completed In Reportable Death At Western Newfoundland Hospital: Police

Darpan News Desk IANS, 05 May, 2016 11:28 AM
  • Autopsy Completed In Reportable Death At Western Newfoundland Hospital: Police
CORNER BROOK, N.L. — Police say an autopsy has been done on the victim of a so-called reportable death at a hospital in western Newfoundland, and there are no concerns about patient safety.

Police have released few details about the incident at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, saying they are awaiting the autopsy results from the chief medical officer.

They were called to the hospital Monday, but would not release the patient's age, gender or condition.

Under the province's Fatalities Investigation Act, reportable deaths involve violence, accident, suicide, and improper or negligent treatment.

Deaths are also reportable when the cause is unclear, sudden or unexpected, or occurred when a patient was not under active medical care.

The health authority says Western Health is co-operating with the police investigation.
